The road to Atlanta via Edna Creek will be closed to all traffic in both directions from 0900 until the convoy is back out of the closure area TODAY Sept 11th, 2012. The heavy equipment convoy will be lead by pilot cars. Fire operations will stage engines along the route to make sure no local or fire traffic blocks the road.

Yesterday containment reached 64%. As progress is made, excess crews and equipment will continue to be demobilized. Fire activity has been decreasing each day as the fire moves into higher elevations and old burn scars. Crews continue making progress rehabilitating fire lines and removing hazard trees along roads within the Trinity Ridge fire perimeter. Road graders are being used in many locations repairing roads used by firefighting equipment. Fire managers continue to monitor the perimeter by helicopter.

Light winds are expected today with predicted increased gusts in the afternoon. Moderate fire activity was observed near West Warrior Peak. No initial attack fires were reported within the area of the Incident Management Team’s responsibility on Monday. Helicopters, fire personnel, and equipment are staged to assist with any new starts.

Significant Events Initial attack support with aviation assets and fire personnel continues on Forest lands. No initial attack fires within the IMT’s area of responsibility. Suppression repair efforts in fire area continue. Multiple Divisions along fire perimeter are being monitored by air and patrolled by road. General area public closures remain in effect. Unable to fill crew orders at this time.

Outlook

Planned Actions Most Divisions are being patrolled by road and air. Fallers are snagging the 225 road, following guidelines from the suppression repair plan. The Contingency Group continues maintenance of contingency line as needed. They are also continuing fire line repair in accordance with the suppression rehabilitation plan. IA Group is staged for initial attack. The Suppression Repair Group is completing the repair of dozer line in Division S. as well as completing rehab of 183 road. They are continuing to fell hazards trees and assist in keeping roads open.

Remarks New starts outside of the IA area, however we did send resources to help with forest IA. All structures identified as threatened are in Boise County. The Idaho National Guard and the Idaho Air National Guard is providing personnel and equipment to staff road closures. The Air Guard will provide a hoist capable medieval helicopter for the incident.
